Zippy Wall

Verification for Discord

Verify members before they post.

Members run /verify in your server. The bot grants them a Verified role if they pass the account-age + server-tenure bars you configure. Layer with Discord's Highest verification level for phone-required servers.

Pro feature — $3.99/mo, 14-day free trial. Unlimited servers.

Verification

Verification grants a configured role to members who meet your bar for trust. The bar is two numbers: how old their Discord account must be, and how long they must have been in your server.

Members trigger it themselves with /verify. If they pass, they get the role and unlock the gated channels. If they don't, the bot tells them what's missing and when to retry. No mod approval, no delay, no manual queue.

Three steps

Setup is the same shape as the rest of Zippy Wall — configure once, members self-serve from there.

1
Create a Verified role

Make a Discord role and grant it access to the channels you want gated. New members start without it.

2
Configure the bar

In the Zippy Wall dashboard, paste the Verified role ID, set a minimum account age (days) and minimum server tenure (minutes). Save.

3
Members run /verify

When a member is ready, they run /verify in your server. Zippy Wall checks the bars and either grants the role or tells them exactly what's missing and when to retry.

Suggested bars

Stricter bars block more raid alts but also frustrate legitimate members. Start in the middle and tune from your mod-log.

What you get

Verification fits inside the broader Zippy Wall stack — same bot, same subscription.

Two independent gates

Account age (how old their Discord account is) and server tenure (how long they've been in your server). Set both, one, or neither. Different gates catch different attackers — fresh throwaways vs drive-by raid bots.

Self-service, no mod work

Members run /verify themselves. No moderator has to manually approve each request. Mods get their time back; users get instant access the moment they meet the bar.

Helpful failure messages

If a member doesn't qualify, the bot tells them in plain language what's missing — "Your account is 3 days old; verification requires 7 (4 more days)" — so they know when to retry.

Stacks with Discord phone verification

Set your server verification level to Highest in Discord settings, and Discord requires verified phone numbers before users can chat. Layer Zippy Wall's /verify on top for the age and tenure bars. Two-layer defense.

Permission-safe

Bot needs Manage Roles, and its role must sit above the Verified role in your server's role hierarchy. Standard Discord setup — no special permissions, no Administrator access asked for.

Works with the rest of the stack

Same Zippy Wall subscription that powers verification also blocks phishing URLs, scam patterns, raids, and nuke attempts. One bot, one $3.99/mo Pro, both Discord and Twitch.

Common questions

Can the bot require a phone number to verify?

Discord doesn't expose user phone numbers to bots, so no bot can directly check phone status. The standard approach is to set your Discord server verification level to Highest — Discord then requires phone-verified accounts to chat in your server. Layer Zippy Wall's /verify on top for the account-age and server-tenure bars. Result: unverified-phone accounts can't even attempt /verify because Discord blocks them at the channel level, and verified-phone accounts still have to pass your age and tenure floor.

What if a member fails verification?

The bot tells them exactly what's missing and when to try again — e.g. "Your account is 3 days old; verification requires 7 (4 more days). Try /verify again later." No mod work, no manual queue, no DMs.

What permissions does verification need?

Manage Roles is required so the bot can grant the Verified role. Zippy Wall's own role must sit above the Verified role in your server's role hierarchy, otherwise Discord rejects the grant. Standard Discord setup; no Administrator permission requested.

Can I exempt specific users from verification?

The verification flow is opt-in by design — members have to run /verify themselves. You don't need to exempt anyone because nobody is auto-gated. If you want certain members to bypass channel restrictions entirely (skip the Verified-role requirement), give them a role with channel-level overrides in Discord directly.

Does the bot DM new members to verify?

No. The bot stays silent unless a member runs /verify themselves. Most servers post a one-time pinned message in their #welcome channel explaining the verification step. No DM spam, no automated outreach.
