Lockdown for Discord

One toggle. Server locked down.

When your server is under attack, lockdown blocks all links, blocks accounts younger than your configured age from posting, and raises Discord verification level. Auto-expires when the wave passes — or stays on until you uncheck it.

Free feature. No card required.

Lockdown

Lockdown is the manual lever for when something's happening right now. Anti-raid catches the attacks it sees coming — coordinated join bursts. Lockdown is for everything else: a slow drip of scam DMs, a hate-raid you got tipped off about, a wave the burst detector wouldn't flag.

Server owners, Administrators, and your exempt list can still post — by design, so staff can coordinate cleanup while the rest of the server is gated.

While active

Three things happen the moment lockdown turns on. All three persist for the duration you set.

Blocks every message containing a URL

Allowlist is bypassed — emergency mode means no links, period. Phishing waves stop on contact.

Blocks posts from young accounts

Configurable threshold (default 120 days). Most raid alts are far younger. Established members keep posting normally.

Raises Discord verification level

Sets the server to Highest. Unverified accounts can't talk until they meet Discord's phone-verified bar — a second layer of defense.

When to use it

Lockdown is the "something's happening right now" tool. Specific scenarios:

Setup in 30 seconds

Open the Zippy Wall dashboard, scroll to Lockdown at the bottom of the settings card.

1
Pick expiry

Until Unchecked (manual unlock) or a fixed duration: 1h, 2h, 6h, 12h, 24h, or 3 days.

2
Pick min account age

Default 120 days. Almost no real member has an account younger than 120 days when joining established servers. Tune up or down per your community.

3
Check Enable lockdown and save

Lockdown goes active immediately. You can also use /lockdown on [hours] / /lockdown off / /lockdown status in-Discord.

Lockdown vs anti-raid

Complementary, not competing. Most servers run both.

Anti-raid

Automatic. Detects coordinated join bursts (5+ accounts in 30s) and locks the server down without you doing anything. Pro feature. See /antiraid.

Lockdown

Manual. You flip it when you see the attack happening — including patterns anti-raid wouldn't catch (slow-drip scam DMs, off-platform raid coordination, hate-raid tip-offs). Free feature.

Common questions

Will lockdown stop my admins from posting?

No. Server owners, Administrators, exempt users, and exempt roles can still post during lockdown. The gate runs after exemption checks specifically so your staff can coordinate cleanup while the rest of the server is locked down.

How long can lockdown stay on?

Pick a fixed duration (1h, 2h, 6h, 12h, 24h, 3 days) or set it to Until Unchecked — which keeps lockdown active indefinitely until you manually disable it. Useful when you're going to sleep and want the server gated until morning.

Does lockdown restore Discord verification level when it ends?

No — verification level stays elevated after lockdown expires. This is intentional. Most servers want to keep a higher bar after an attack. If you want to drop it back, change the level manually in Server Settings → Safety Setup → Verification Level.

Can I trigger lockdown from inside Discord?

Yes. Slash commands work for in-Discord control: /lockdown on [hours] to activate, /lockdown off to disable, /lockdown status to check current state. Manage Messages permission required.

Why is lockdown free when anti-raid is Pro?

Lockdown is the basic "make spam stop" lever — a single toggle that any community owner should be able to flip in an emergency. Paywalling that felt wrong. Anti-raid is Pro because the value is in the automatic detection — the smart part — not in the lockdown response itself.

Ready to lock down on demand?

Free feature. No card required. 30 seconds to configure.
